Good teashop but it is inside the museum complex so you need to pay to enter, be
a member or sweet-talk the doorman!

Amberley Tearoom TQ030122
New teashop situated in the old slaughterhouse in the middle of the village
adjacent to the red telephone box. It won't be opened until September 2008.

Ardingly, The Gallery TQ347295
Small art gallery and teashop at the junction of three roads in the village centre
next to the Ardingly Inn and about 1km south of The South of England Showground.
Limited seating, parking is on the pavement and a bit expensive.

Arundel Tea Rooms TQ018071
There are several small tearooms in Arundel. However, tourists of the non-cycling
variety are often found here in large numbers, so you may find it difficult
to find tables.
Arundel is mainly famous for Peglers(expedition advice and supplies)
- don't take your credit cards!(but if you can't resist buying some expensive
piece of equipment, mention the CTC for a generous discount).

Originally May Cottage tearoom and then it became Sarita's but
now, under new management, it has returned to be the May Cottage tearoom.
Located on the north side of the roundabout at the junction of the A272 and the
A275. Rather small and can get quite busy but it is well-known by cyclists.

at the eastern end of the Chichester Marina car park and about 0.5km west of the

Dial Post, Old Barn Nurseries TQ153186
Located on the east side of the busy A24 at the crossroads of Grinders Lane
and Dial Post. Look out for the breakfasts(only served until midday) and super
large teacakes! Can get busy in the summer but there is plenty of space,
indoors and out. Take great care when crossing the A24 as it is an accident
black-spot!

Small teashop on the south side of West Street and very close to the mini-roundabout.
On-street bike parking but plenty of room with a rear garden accessible through
the shop. It is currently up for sale but still operating at present.

OK, so it's only a Little Chef(overpriced and not very good), but we use
them occasionally and they are open long hours. It is adjacent to the roundabout
on the A27 close to the entrance to Fontwell Horse Racecourse.

Smashing teashop, serving light lunches and cream teas, it is situated in the middle
of the village of Glynde. The carrot cake is to die for and special discounts are

Goodwood Flying Club Restaurant SU878074
Very good cafe located in the centre of the Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit,
about 2 miles north-east of Chichester. Access is via the east entrance
to the racing circuit, through the tunnel under the track and past the
Douglas Bader statue. Lots of activities to look at while eating cakes
and cream teas. The Surrey Racing League have cycle races around the circuit
on Tuesday nights in the summer months.

Very popular cafe situated on the beach, adjacent to the roundabout at the
junction of Sea Lane and Marine Drive. Being fairly central, it is sometimes
used as one of our start points.

Handcross Craft & Tearoom TQ263299
Small, cosy teashop at the north end of the main street in Handcross village combined
with the craft and hardware store. It also provides free internet access for customers!
Open from 10am to 4.30pm Mondays to Saturdays, not Sundays.

Handcross, Nymans Gardens TQ263296
This place belongs to the National Trust and is located just south of
Handcross on the east side of the B2114.
The teashop is inside the grounds, which means that if you want to use
it, you have to be either a member, be very persuasive or pay to get in!
However, once inside, the teashop is large and very nice.

Hayling Island, Coastguard's Cafe SZ728986
Situated on the east side of the main road near to the pedestrian crossing,
at the southern end of the island. Good-sized cafe but can be
pretty busy in the summer months. Their fish are really great and the
beach is close by, if you fancy a swim!

Small teashop on the west side of the High Street on the corner of
Church Street near the pedestrian crossing. Bikes have to be left on the
pavement!

Very nice cheap teas with large slices of delicious homemade cakes. Only
available when there is a cricket match on field. Very nice and relaxing
on a summer afternoon. It is alongside the A281 about a kilometre east of
the village.

Very friendly teashop in a large double-fronted house set back from the
High Street behind a well-established front garden opposite Barclays Bank.
There are tables indoors and more space in the rear garden but parking is
on the pavement.

Good teashop on the west side of the High Street. Bikes can be
left down the side of the shop. Wonderful, large egg custards!
Note: Truffles are a chain and can be found in several villages
but they are now closed on Sundays.

Located south-east of Horsham, near to the staggered crossroads of the
A281 and Sedgewick Lane. The teashop is small and located in the garden
furniture section at the rear. Food is somewhat limited.

in the large indoor room. Recently refurbished and with outdoor

Hurstpierpoint, Washbrook's Farm TQ278162

Nice cakes, good value and plenty of room for large groups. You can even
look at some of the fowl(e.g., ducks, turkeys, peacocks, rheas, etc)! The farm
is on the B2117 just south of Hurstpierpoint and opens 9:30am to 5:00pm
every day of the week.

Kingston, Wyevale Garden Centre TQ403084
A good clean teashop situated on the east side of the minor road that runs from
Lewes through Rodmell and Piddinghoe to Newhaven. The garden centre is directly
opposite the turning into Kingston village but take care as it is a busy cut-through
for traffic from the A27 to the A259 !

Leith Hill, TQ140433
Drinks and food are available from the NT-owned tower which is at the top of the
hill. The wooded hillsides are a favourite spot for mountain bikers and walkers
and there are all-round fantastic views of Surrey and Sussex from the summit.
The only shelter is from the trees so best to visit in good weather.

On the east side of North Street(A272) near to the pedestrian crossing and
easily spotted by the interesting collection of teapots in the window and the
CTC sign on the door! Extra tables and seating at the rear through the
shop but cycles have to be left on the pavement in the main street! Open every
day from 10.00am until 5.00pm

Owned by the National Trust but no admission required for the tearoom.
The servants quarters are worth a quick look if you have time. Teas and light
meals served in a large hall.

Small but handy, in pretty cobbled Lombard Street - north from the
main square. A bit pricey and they are not keen on Lycra!

Small teashop on the south side of the town in the High Street offering everything
from a full English breakfast to sandwiches and cream teas. Now under new
management and welcomes cyclists! The only problem is on-street parking.

Sunday 10:00am - 4:00pm.

On the A281 just north of Poynings village and close to the roundabout at the
bottom of the Devil's Dyke road. Cycle parking at the rear close to the
teashop, open from 10:30am to 4:30pm.

and out. It is situated about 3kms east of Rowlands Castle near to the
Monarchs Way trail - follow the main drive towards Stanstead House.

A small shop selling bread, eggs, and cakes and they serve tea as well! It is
on the east side of the sharp bend on the A286 in the middle of Singleton.

Southwater Country Park TQ160259
Very picturesque park with views across the lake from the cafe. Can be busy
and may be full of screaming kids as a variety of activites are occasionally going
on such as canoeing, model boating and the occasional tri-athlon event.
The cafe is closed Monday to Thursday from November to March.

A small, friendly watering hole on the north side of the A272 and to
the east of the narrow bridge over the River Rother. Safe cycle parking

Nice, small teashop in a large garden centre but it is on the west side of
the very busy A24 dual carriageway about half a mile north of the Washington
roundabout. Access is from the north-bound carriageway ONLY.

Very nice Garden Centre with a large tearoom and plenty of outdoor seating
if the weather is good. Located on the east side of the A286 in the
village of West Dean, about 5mls(8kms) north of Chichester. Open daily from
March to September and closes at 4.30pm.

Whiteways TQ001108
On top of the South Downs, just north of Arundel, by the roundabout at the
junction of the A29, the A284 and B2139. The 'Hikers' teashop, situated
in the car park, sells tea, coffee and cakes. No indoors seating. A favourite haunt
for motorcyclists at the weekend. There are also public toilets on the site.

Wiggonholt, RSPB Sanctuary TQ059165

Friendly teashop with plenty of room and views over the RSPB nature
reserve plus a wonderful shop - ideal for last minute presents.
Open from 10:00am to 4:45pm daily. The RSPB sanctuary is on the west
side of the A283 between Pulborough and Storrington.

Situated in Water Lane, a short distance north of the Chanctonbury Ring
junction on the A283. Interesting animals and a pleasant garden with stream.
