Will new cycle 'corridor' prove a wheel success?
The first stage of a project which aims to
make life easier for cyclists on the route
from Worthing to Goring begins on
Monday, June 19.
The first phase of the work on the route
consists of marking advisory cycle lanes
and installing signing.
The work will start at the western end of
Goring Road by the Mulberry shopping
Parade, and will continue eastwards to
Wallace Avenue, Heene Road and Shelley
Road over the following six weeks.
More than 40 cycle stands will also be
provided at Goring Road's two main shopping areas.
Work will take place outside of the main
traffic periods to keep disruption to a minimum, but road users are asked to expect
some delays.
The Worthing to Goring cycle route is a
partnership scheme between West Sussex
County Council and Worthing Borough
Council.
The project aims to improve conditions
for cyclists through one of the town's most
popular cycle corridors. The first phase of
the work will cost about £26,500.
Work on the second stage of the
improvements along this route are due to
start later this year.
